Bridging the gap. This intense six-day summer program helps prepare them for their first semester by teaching time management and study skills.

Leadership training. Scholars attend leadership conferences and participate in leadership courses.

Study abroad, research and internship opportunities. Scholars receive the resources for study abroad and internship programs and are encouraged to apply for undergraduate research assistantships through the Ronald E. McNair Program.

Academic support. Scholars receive academic counseling and tutoring and meet as a group and individually with advisors.

Mentoring opportunities. Scholars are assigned a faculty and student mentor their freshman year, then are required to mentor incoming Scholars as well.

Career services. Scholars participate in a variety of career planning and development activities and get help finding direct job experience on and off campus.

Social activities. Scholars have numerous opportunities to interact with the chancellor and vice chancellors as well as TCU Alumni and community leaders.

Parent programming. The Community Scholar Program hosts a number of workshops and social events for parents to meet and share concerns.

“I helped found a national Latin fraternity at TCU, Lambda Theta Phi. It allowed me to meet guys I would never have gotten to know otherwise, and we’ve created such a strong bond together. It’s been really incredible.”
